Abstract:
A chainsaw 10 is formed by being provided with a handle 33 which has a grip 34 to be gripped by a worker and which is connected to a housing 11, an electric motor 21 which causes a saw chain 25 to rotate, a control unit 35 which controls the rotation of the electric motor 21, and a main power switch 50 which switches between an ON state in which power can be supplied from a power source 22 to the electric motor 21, and an OFF state in which power cannot be supplied, wherein: on the grip 34, disposed is a grip detection device 40 for detecting whether the grip 34 is being gripped by the worker; and when the control unit 35 was operated so as to cause the electric motor 21 to stop, the main power switch 50 is maintained in an ON state in a case where the grip detection device 40 has detected that the grip is being gripped, and the main power switch 50 is switched to an OFF state in a case where the grip detection device 40 has detected that the grip is not being gripped.
