A chair-type massage machine, wherein installation in proximity to a wall in a room is possible in cases or the like in which the chair-type massage machine is installed so that the back faces an indoor wall. In the case that a seat can be moved forward and backward, a foot rubbing device provided to the front of the seat can be used without affecting in any manner the forward and backward motion of the seat. This chair-type massage machine (1) has a seat (2), a base frame (6), and a backrest (3) provided at the rear of the seat (2) so as to be capable of a reclining operation, and is configured so that an upper end of the backrest (3) moves vertically along a single vertical line during the reclining operation of the backrest (3). The chair-type massage machine (1) also has a foot massage device (5) provided to the front of the seat (2). A seat movement mechanism (15) for moving the seat (2) at least in the longitudinal direction is provided to the base frame (6). A posture alteration mechanism (16) for varying the orientation of the foot massage machine (5) relative to the seat (2) while the relative distance between the seat (2) and the foot massage device (5) is maintained is provided to the seat (2).
