Abstract:
Disclosed is a character input device provided with a display unit which displays images; an input detection unit which is disposed superimposed on the display and detects the touch input of an operator; and a control unit which causes a software keyboard to be displayed on the display unit, causes the character that corresponds to the key that was touched to be displayed in the character input area of the display unit as a candidate input character if the input detection unit detects that an image of a key of the software keyboard was touched, and causes a candidate input character to be displayed in the character input area of the display unit as an inputted character constituting an inputted character string if the input detection unit detects a confirm operation for the candidate input character.
