[Problem] To provide a charging stand where foreign bodies such as metal can be detected. [Solution] In the charging stand (10), charging is effected with a battery pack unit (50A) that incorporates a battery (52) that is charged with power delivered to a power-receiving coil (51), or the battery pack (50A) is charged in a condition mounted on a battery-incorporating appliance (50). This charging stand is provided with a power delivery coil (11) that is connected with an AC power source (12) so as to deliver an EMF to the power-receiving coil (51). The AC power source (12) comprises a control circuit (80) having a transmission efficiency detection section (84) that detects the efficiency of transmission of power to the battery-incorporating appliance (50). The control circuit (80) compares the aforementioned transmission efficiency with a prescribed value and thereby determines whether a foreign body is present between the charging stand and the battery-incorporating appliance (50) or battery pack (50A). This prescribed value may depend on mounting information indicating the type thereof; i.e. whether the battery pack (50A) is a single unit or is in a condition mounted on an appliance casing (50B), and/or may depend on the magnitude of the charging current.
