Title:
CHELATE-FORMING FIBER, PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME, AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1998/042910
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A chelate-forming fiber which has in its molecule an amino group and a group having at least two hydroxyl groups bonded to carbon (preferably a group represented by formula (1)), possesses an excellent capability of scavenging metalloid elements including boron and germanium and compounds thereof, can be easily incinerated, and can be prepared in a simple and safe manner at a low cost; a process for preparing the same; and a method for scavenging metalloid elements or compounds thereof with the chelate-forming fiber, wherein G represents a sugar alcohol residue or a polyhydric alcohol residue; and R represents a hydrogen atom, a (lower) alkyl group or -G (wherein G is as defined above and may be a group identical with or different from the above G).
