Abstract:
A chemical heat storage device comprising: a reactor having a heat-storing material 24 that produces heat due to a chemical reaction with a reactive medium and desorbs the reactive medium due to heat absorption, said reactor also having a receptacle 27 within which the heat-storing material 24 is contained; a reservoir where the reactive medium is stored; and a connecting pipe that is in communication with the reactor and the reservoir, thereby allowing the reactive medium to flow between the reactor and the reservoir. The reactive medium is ammonia, the receptacle 27 is formed from a metallic material (such as stainless steel), and a nickel layer 28 containing at least 90% nickel by mass is formed at least on sections of the inner surface of the receptacle 27 that come into contact with ammonia.
