Abstract:

Arranged between a pair of leg sections (13b, 13b) of a plurality of magnetic grids (13) constituting an arc extinguishing device (11) are: permanent magnets (14a, 14b) for causing an electromagnetic force (18) to act so that a magnetic flux (17a) is generated in a direction orthogonal to an arc (16a) produced between a stationary contact point (7) of a stationary contact (4) and a movable contact point (8) of a movable contact (6), and so that the arc is caused to move towards a grid base (13a); and a permanent magnet holding member (15) for holding the permanent magnets and surrounding the movement trajectory of the movable contact point.
