Abstract:
Communication between a facsimile modem (36) and a facsimile apparatus (38) without using any telephone line. Lines (44) are disconnected by means of a capacitor (C1) for DC signal, but connected for AC signal. Upon detecting the off-hook of the modem (36), an off-hook detection circuit (62) applies a line simulating voltage across the lines (44) by operating a DC converter (60). A ringing signal sending circuit (66) judges that transmission is made from the modem (36) when the circuit (66) does not detect any answer tone for a prescribed period of time after the off-hook and outputs a ringing signal to the line (44). Thus, the facsimile apparatus (38) is called and communication can be performed between the modem (36) and the apparatus (38).
