Abstract:
The present invention provides a circularly polarizing plate that can sufficiently suppress black tinting in a frontal direction when being attached to a display device, a retardation plate for a circularly polarizing plate, and an organic EL display device. This circularly polarizing plate is a circularly polarizing plate having, in this order, a polarizing film, a first optically anisotropic layer and a second optical anisotropic layer. The first optical anisotropic layer includes a liquid crystal compound such that the direction of thickness is the torsion orientation that forms a spiral axis, and the torsion angle for the liquid crystal compound in the first optical anisotropic layer is 28.6 ± 10°. The axis of absorption for the polarizing film and the in-plane retardation axis for the second optical anisotropic layer are parallel or orthogonal. The value for the product (Δnd) of the refractive index anisotropy (Δn) for the first optical anisotropic layer measured at a wavelength of 550 nm and the thickness (d) of the first optical anisotropic layer and that for ReB (550), which is a retention value for the second optical anisotropic layer measured at a wavelength of 550 nm, are in a prescribed numerical range. The in-plane retardation axes of the first optical anisotropic layer and the second optical anisotropic layer have a prescribed relationship.
