Abstract:
This class-D amplifier is equipped with: a gain control unit that amplifies an inputted audio signal in accordance with a compensation gain to generate an input signal Vin; and a pulse width modulator that generates, in a first input range A1 where the value of the input value Vin is higher than a first boundary Vb1, a first pulse Vp having a pulse width that changes in accordance with the input signal Vin, and that generates, in a second input range A2 that partially overlaps the first input range A1 and where the value of the input signal Vin is lower than a second boundary Vb2, a second pulse Vn having a pulse width that changes in accordance with the input signal Vin. The gain control unit controls the compensation gain such that the slope of the input/output characteristics of the class-D amplifier in a first section where the pulse width modulator outputs both the first pulse Vp and the second pulse Vn approaches the slope of the input/output characteristics in a second section outside the first section.
