Title:
CLAY FILM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/088815
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a transparent clay film wherein a clay and an additive are uniformly dispersed and the haze value hardly increases over time even when the film is left in the air. In addition, the transparent clay film hardly suffers from defects such as breakage and cracking. Also disclosed is a method for producing such a transparent clay film. Specifically, a clay dispersion is obtained by mixing a synthetic saponite as the clay and water as the solvent. Meanwhile, an additive-containing solution is obtained by mixing sodium polyacrylate as the additive and water as the solvent. Then, a uniform clay-containing solution is obtained by mixing the clay dispersion and the additive-containing solution. After that, the clay-containing solution is deaerated in vacuum, and the deaerated clay-containing solution is applied over a flat portion of the surface of a polypropylene tray. After drying, a thus-formed clay film is separated from the tray.
