Abstract:
The coated cutting tool according to the present invention comprises a hard nitride coating that contains Ti at 70 atomic% to 95 atomic% and Si at 5 atomic% to 30 atomic% with respect to the total metallic element content, and Ar at 0.05 atomic% to 0.20 atomic% with respect to the total metallic and non-metallic element content, has an NaCl-type crystalline structure, exhibits maximum diffraction peak intensity in the (200) plane, and has an average crystal grain size of 5 nm to 30 nm. Defining 100 atomic% as the total of metallic elements, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon in the composition of every 20 nm interval from a depth of 20 nm to 200 nm from the surface of the hard coating, the nitrogen content ratio is at least 50.0 atomic %. The flank of the coated cutting tool has an arithmetical mean high Sa of 0.1 μm or less, a maximum height Sz of 2.0 μm or less, and an arithmetic mean peak curvature Spc (1/mm) value of 5,000 or less, all as defined by ISO 25178.
