Abstract:
The present invention provides a means with which it is possible to improve the density and mechanical strength in sintered bodies of a composition that includes a sintering aid and silicon carbide particles, and in molded articles containing the sintered bodies. The present invention pertains to a coated silicon carbide particle powder that includes silicon carbide particles and a coating layer coating the silicon carbide particles, the coating layer including an aluminum element, and the mass of the aluminum element per unit surface area of the silicon carbide particles being 0.5 mg/m2 or higher.
