Abstract:
A coated tool according to the present invention comprises a base material and a hard coating film on the base material. The hard coating film has a face-centered cubic lattice structure and is formed of a nitride or a carbonitride containing 65-90 at.% of Al, 10-35 at.% of Cr, and not more than 0.50 at.% of argon (Ar), with respect to the total amount of metal (including semi-metal) elements. The hard coating film exhibits, in an X-ray intensity distribution along the α-axis in a positive electrode dot diagram relating the (111) surface of the face-centered cubic lattice structure, a maximum intensity Ia in the α angle range of 80-90°, and the intensity Ia in the α angle range of 0-70° is not more than 35% of the maximum intensity Ia.
