Title:
COATING LIQUID TRANSFER ROLL WITH EXCELLENT UNIFORM COATING CAPABILITY, CORROSIVENESS, WEAR RESISTANCE, AND HIGH WETTABILITY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/000470
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A metering roll used for a paper machine or the coating part of a paper board machine, wherein the thermet of a metal film layer as an under coat (2) is thermally sprayed and a ceramic layer (3) with a porosity of approx. 1 to 20% as a top coat is thermally sprayed on the under coat, the surface of the coated layer is sealed with organic or inorganic sealant, and the outer surface of the roll is finally finished, by polishing, to a surface accuracy of 0.2 to 0.4 μm in surface roughness Ra, whereby, since thermally sprayed ceramic film is very hard and has smooth surface, the roll can provide an excellent wear resistance to prevent wear from being produced by fine hard particles contained in coating liquid, since the film is environmentally shielded by sealing treatment, the roll can provide an excellent corrosiveness to prevent corrosion from being produced by the coating liquid, and the coating liquid can be uniformly applied to paper due to a proper surface roughness, porosity, and the excellent wettability of the paper with the coating liquid.
