Abstract:

A coke furnace is coated with a coating film which has a high strength, high impact resistance, excellent smoothness, and high durability and is capable of protecting the refractory bricks of the coke furnace over long. A coating material which comprises as main ingredient 18 to 70 % by weight SiO�2?, and 10 to 60 % by weight Na�2?O and/or K�2?O and contains at least one member selected among 2 to 14 % by weight P�2?O�5?, 0.5 to 25 % by weight BaO, 0.5 to 25 % by weight SrO, and 0.5 to 20 % by weight Fe�2?O�3? is sprayed over refractory bricks to remove the carbon adherent to the bricks and form an exellent coating layer.
