Description

COCK FOR WATER PURIFIER HAVING CONTINUOUS WATER-DISPENSING AUXILIARY LEVER

Technical Field

[1] The present invention relates to a cock for a water purifier, and more particularly, to a cock for a water purifier having a continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever capable of dispensing purified water, without pulling a water-dispensing lever, by allowing the continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever to pull a water-dispensing control link so as to dispense the purified water. Background Art

[2] In general, a water purifier is an apparatus to purify raw water such as tap water or medicinal waters. Here, the apparatus provides a drinking water, which contains only substances that are beneficial to human beings, by removing heavy metals or other hazardous substances from the raw water using purification methods including procedures such as precipitation, filtration, sterilization and the like.

[3] Such purified water obtained from the water purifier is transferred to a cooling system and a heating system, in which the purified water is converted into cold water and hot water, respectively. Then, the cold water and the hot water are stored respectively in a cold water storage tank and a hot water storage tank, and dispensed out according to the user's selection.

[4] In order to dispense cold water and/or hot water, a button or a lever on a cock of the water purifier is handled to receive water.

[5] The conventional water purifier using a water-dispensing lever has a water- dispensing lever coupled to a water-dispensing control link formed on a cock body. Here, when the water-dispensing lever is pulled ahead or pushed back from the water purifier, purified water is dispensed through a water-dispensing path of the cock body.

[6] Particularly in the case of the continuous water dispensing operation, the water- dispensing path of the cock body remains open by pulling the water-dispensing lever from the water purifier in order to temporally stop the dispensing of water.

[7] Such a water purifier having the water-dispensing lever has a problem in that, since the water-dispensing path is opened as the water-dispensing lever moves, water runs against the water-dispensing lever while being dispensed when the water-dispensing lever is pulled ahead or pushed back from the water purifier.

[8] When the water runs against the water-dispensing lever, the water is splashed in all directions, which leads to contaminating a surrounding area of the water purifier and make a user get burned. Disclosure of Invention

[24] Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, the description proposed herein is just a preferable example for the purpose of illustrations only, not intended to limit the scope of the invention, so it should be understood that other equivalents and modifications could be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Therefore, it should be understood that the equivalents and modifications are included in the scope of the present invention.

[25] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a cock for a water purifier prior to opening a water-dispensing path according to one exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a cock for a water purifier posterior to completely opening a water-dispensing path according to one exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[26] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the cock for a water purifier according to one exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a cock body 20, a water-dispensing lever 30 and a continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40.

[27] The cock for a water purifier of the present invention includes the water-dispensing lever 30. In this case, a user may receive purified water by pulling the water-dispensing lever 30 ahead of the cock or pushing the water-dispensing lever 30.

[28] Also, only a continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40, which is connected with a water-dispensing control link 35 that controls the dispensing of water without the rotation of the water-dispensing lever 30, may be used to dispense purified water.

[29] The water-dispensing lever 30 and the continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever

40 may be coupled to the water-dispensing control link 35 controlling the dispensing of purified water by one pin 50, and the water-dispensing control link 35 may be controlled by the rotation of the water-dispensing lever 30 or the continuous water- dispensing auxiliary lever 40, thereby dispensing the purified water.

[30] FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating a continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever according to one exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[31] Referring to FIG. 3, the continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40 is a " π - shaped" member including a horizontal portion 46 that comes in contact with an upper surface 24 of the cock body 20 prior to dispensing water; and a vertical portion 44 vertical to the horizontal portion 46.

[32] The continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40 rotates about a corner portion 45 that couples the horizontal portion 46 and the vertical portion 44.

[33] That is to say, the corner portion 45 is supported onto the upper surface 24 of the cock body 20, and acts as the rotation axis about which the continuous water- dispensing auxiliary lever 40 rotates.

[34] Also, the corner portion 45 may be shaped in a round form to protect an upper surface of the cock body 20.

[35] In this case, the horizontal portion 46 has a pin hole 42 formed therethrough so that the horizontal portion 46 can be coupled to the water-dispensing control link 35 by means of a pin 50.

[36] When a user pulls or pushes the vertical portion 44 toward the cock body 20, the corner portion 45 supported onto the cock body 20 uses the principle of the lever to allow the horizontal portion 46 to push up the water-dispensing control link 35.

[37] In this case, a length of the horizontal portion 46 corresponds to a height where the water-dispensing control link 35 is pushed up.

[38] FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view illustrating the cock for a water purifier as shown in

FIG. 1, and FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view illustrating the cock for a water purifier as shown in FIG. 2.

[39] Hereinafter, a configuration and an operation principle of the cock for a water purifier are described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5. [40] For the cock for a water purifier according to one exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the cock body 20 is coupled to a water dispensing pipe 10 through which the purified water flows.

[41] A purified water channel 12 is formed in the water dispensing pipe 10, and an internal channel 23, which is coupled to the purified water channel 12 to dispense purified water from the water purifier, formed inside the cock body 20.

[42] A water outlet 22, which acts as a final destination prior to dispensing the purified water, is closed with a water outlet closer 21 coupled to an end of the shaft 25. That is to say, the water-dispensing control link 35 controlling the ascent and decent of the shaft 25 does not move without pulling the continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40 ahead of the cock body 20 or pushing the continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40.

[43] The water-dispensing control link 35 is pushed up from an upper surface of the cock body 20 by means of the continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40, thus to push up the shaft 25 coupled to the water-dispensing control link 35. When the shaft 25 is pushed up, the water outlet closer 21 coupled to the end of the shaft 25 is opened. In this case, purified water, which is transferred via a purified water channel 12 and an internal channel 23 of the cock body 20, is dispensed out through the water outlet 22.

[44] The continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40 is coupled to the water- dispensing control link 35 by means of a pin, and may temporally come to a halt to continuously dispense since the shaft 25 is pushed up, that is, the water outlet 22 is opened, when a vertical portion 44 of the continuous water-dispensing auxiliary lever 40 comes in contact with an upper surface of the cock body 20.

[45] As described above, the cock for a water purifier having a continuous water- dispensing auxiliary lever may be useful to continuously dispense water without pulling or pushing the water-dispensing lever.

[46] Also, the cock for a water purifier may be safely used during the continuous water dispensing operation since a surrounding area of the water purifier may be kept clean by preventing the water from running against the water-dispensing lever, and a user may be prevented from getting burned by preventing the hot water from being splashed onto a user.
