Abstract:
The present invention relates to a blank configured to form a collapsible bowl. The blank is intended to provide a device that can be easily transformed between a flat configuration and an erect configuration. The blank comprises, a first radial crease-line and a second radial crease- line, meeting at a centre point within the blank and forming a fold segment and a major segment. The major segment further includes an over-fold segment and an under-fold segment adjacent to the fold segment. The blank includes abase crease-line, that forms the boundary of the base section and the wall section. The blank is erected by rotating the fold segment around the center point until the over-fold segment overlaps the fold segment, and the under-fold segment underlays the fold segment,. When erected the base section forms a conically shaped structure within the erected collapsible bowl.

Claims:
CLAIMS

What is claimed is:

1. A blank configured to erect a collapsible bowl, the blank comprising: a blank edge that forms the perimeter of the blank; a first radial crease-line originating at a center point within the blank and terminating at a first point on the blank edge; a second radial crease-line originating at the center point and terminating at a second point on the blank edge; a base crease-line configured to form a base section of the collapsible bowl, wherein the base section is formed by a bounded area of the blank between the center point and the base crease-line; wherein a wall section is formed by the area of the blank between the base crease-line and the edge of the blank; wherein the first and second radial crease-lines form a fold segment and a major segment; The major segment comprising an over-fold segment and an under-fold segment adjacent to the fold segment, the over-fold segment overlaps the fold segment, and the under-fold segment underlays the fold segment to erect the collapsible bowl.

2. The blank of claim 1, further comprises one or more connecting elements on the underfold segment, fold segment, and over-fold segment configured to attach together to affix the collapsible bowl, one or more connecting elements may include cut-outs within the blank, snaps, hooks, clips, male-female latches, and hook-loop fasteners or any other known method of attachment.

The blank of claim 1, wherein the edge of the blank is cut to form a shape including at least one of: a circular shape, a wavy shape, a polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape with a closed boundary configured to form a variety of openings including at least one of: a circular shaped opening, a wavy shaped opening, polygonal shaped opening, an asymmetrical opening, and any other shaped opening, on the collapsible bowl.

4. The blank of claim 1, wherein the blank further comprises a rim crease-line configured to form a boundary of a rim section of the collapsible bowl, wherein the rim section is formed by area of the blank between the rim crease-line and the edge of the blank.

The blank of claim 4, wherein the rim crease-line forms a shape including at least one of: a circular shape, a wavy shape, a polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape with a closed boundary configured to form a variety of openings including at least one of: a circular shaped opening, a wavy shaped opening, polygonal shaped opening, an asymmetrical opening, and any other shaped opening, on the collapsible bowl.

6. The blank of claim 1, wherein the wall section comprises at least one: slits, cut-outs, insignia, tags, flaps, connecting elements, and handles.

7. The blank of claim 4, wherein the rim section comprises at least one: slits, cut-outs, insignia, tags, flaps, connecting elements, and handles.

8. The blank of claim 1, wherein at least one of: the base crease-line, the rim crease-line, the first radial crease-line and the second crease-line is created by at least one of: scoring, creasing, and any known method to locally dent the blank to form indentations, thereby allowing the blank to be folded along the formed indentations.

9. The blank of claim 1, wherein the blank further comprises at least two additional facet crease-lines within at least one of: the base section, the wall section and the rim section of the major segment to form facets on the collapsible bowl.

The blank of claim 1, wherein the base crease-line having a shape including at least one of: a circular shape, a wavy shape, a polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape with a closed boundary configured to form a base section with a variety of shapes including but not limited to: a circular shape, a wavy shape, polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape.

The blank of claim 1, wherein the blank further comprises a first fold crease-line, a line close to, tangential or within with the boundary of the base crease-line that allows a portion of the wall section to rotate relative to the base section, and a second fold crease- line, originating at the center point and extending from the first radial crease-line, to allow the user to more easily erect the blank.

The blank of claim 1, wherein the blank includes first fold crease-line, a line close to, tangential or within with the boundary of the base crease-line that allows a portion of the wall section to rotate relative to the base section, and a second fold crease-line, originating at first point, on the blank edge, going through the centre point, and terminating at the opposite edge of the blank, to allow the blank to be folded.

13. The blank of claim 12, wherein the folded blank is secured by at least one of: an adhesive, double sided tape and a method of connecting two surfaces, applied to portions of the fold segment and over-fold segment.

14. The blank of claim 1, further comprising at least one panel extended from the wall section of the blank configured to cover the opening of the collapsible bowl.

The blank of claim 1, wherein a detachable lid formed from a lid blank configured to mate with the opening of the collapsible bowl, the lid blank comprising: a central panel configured to match the opening of the collapsible bowl; at least two flap panels extending from the central panel, configured to mate with the surface of the wall section of the collapsible bowl.

The blank of claim 4, wherein a detachable lid formed from a lid blank configured to mate with the opening of the collapsible bowl and rim, the lid blank comprising: a central panel configured to match the opening of the collapsible bowl; at least two flap panels extending from the central panel, configured to overlay the width of the rim of the collapsible bowl; at least one slit within each flap panel configured to mate with the edge of the rim of the collapsible bowl. The blank of claim 1, wherein one or more blanks are adjoined on a portion of their respective wall sections to form a multiple bowl assembly. The blank of claim 1, wherein the blank is made of at least one of: plastic, cardboard, cardstock, paperboard and any other known stiff and flexible sheet material. The blank of claim 1, comprising multiple fold segment sizes created by at least one additional radial crease-line. The blank of claim 1, comprising multiple base section sizes, created by at least one additional base crease-line.

COLLAPSIBLE BOWL AND BLANK

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

[1] The present application claims benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/303,395 filed on January 26, 2022 titled “Collapsible Bowl and Blank”.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[2] The present invention relates generally to a collapsible bowl blank. More specifically, the present invention is a device that can be easily transformed from a flat configuration to an erected configuration.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[3] Containers and bowls have been manufactured in various ways over the years with improving technology creating new features for the containers and bowls. Many containers and large bowls have bulky structures and create an inconvenience for the user when looking for ways to store the object when it is not in use. One way many manufactures have attempted to avoid this problem is by creating a flat bowl or container that can then be constructed into the three-dimensional cavity. However, manually manipulating and affixing a flat blank in several areas to form a three-dimensional cavity is time consuming and complex. This results in various manufacturers simply creating permanent three-dimensional cavities, thus losing the convenience of the flat form when being stored. Other manufactures have attempted to create conical cavities to provide a cavity that is less time consuming. Unfortunately, these conical cavities can be used in various ways but require a secondary stand to ensure the cavity can stay upright.

[4] An objective of the present invention is to provide users with a three-dimensional cavity, that can be utilized to store, food, toys, laundry, amongst various other uses. The present invention provides users with a flat device that can be easily transformed from a flat configuration to an erect three-dimensional cavity. The present invention eliminates the timeconsuming erection process while ensuring a flat configuration for optimal storage capabilities. The present invention intends to provide users with a device that can be easily transformed between a flat configuration and an erect configuration as a three-dimensional cavity. In order to accomplish this, a preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a blank edge, a first radial crease-line, a second radial crease-line, a base crease-line and a rim crease-line, configured to form a fold segment, a base section, a wall section and a rim section. Further, the base section creates an inverted conical shaped structure within the erected bowl, providing a structural base. Thus, the present invention is a blank that can be easily transformed between a flat configuration and an erect configuration where the three-dimensional cavity maybe secured, with an affixing method.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[5] The present invention is a collapsible bowl and blank that can be easily transformed between a flat or erect configuration. The present invention seeks to provide users with a device that maybe stored flat or erected into a three-dimensional cavity. In an embodiment of the present invention, a blank configured to form a collapsible bowl is disclosed. The blank configured to form a collapsible bowl, comprising: a blank edge that forms the perimeter of the blank, a first radial crease-line, originating at a center point within the blank and terminating at a first point on the blank edge, a second radial crease-line originating at the center point and terminating at a second point on the blank edge, and a base crease-line configured to form a base section and a wall section of the collapsible bowl, the first and second radial crease-lines form a fold segment and a major segment; The major segment comprising an over-fold segment and an under-fold segment adjacent to the fold segment. To erect the bowl, the over-fold segment overlaps the fold segment, and the under-fold segment underlays the fold segment forming a pleat. When erected, the wall section creates the outer wall of the structure of the bowl and the base section, creates a flat bottom allowing the structure to sit upright. Further, the blank may include a rim crease-line close to the edge of the blank to form a boundary of a rim section of the collapsible bowl, wherein the rim section is formed by area of the blank between the rim crease-line and the edge of the blank. The rim section creates a rim around the bowl that maybe folded down for added structure and support. The crease-lines are created by scoring, creasing, or any method to locally dent the blank to form indentations, thereby allowing the blank to be folded along the formed indentations. Thus, the present invention is a blank that can be easily transformed between a flat configuration and an erect configuration.

[6] In addition the present invention discloses a lid blank configured to mate with the opening of the collapsible bowl and rim. The lid blank to form a detachable lid comprising: a central panel configured to match the opening of the collapsible bowl; flap panels extending from the central panel, configured to overlay the width of the rim of the collapsible bowl; at least one slit within each flap panel configured to mate with the edge of the rim of the collapsible bowl. [7] In an embodiment of the present invention, the blank, further comprises one or more connecting elements on the under-fold segment, fold segment, and over-fold segment configured to attach together to affix the collapsible bowl. The connecting elements may include: cut-outs within the blank, snaps, hooks, clips, male-female latches, hook-loop fasteners or any other known method of attachment. Similarly the rim section may include at least one or more connecting elements to attach together to affix the collapsible bowl.

[8] In various embodiments of the present invention, the edge of the blank, the rim crease- line and the base crease-line, may form a variety of shapes such as a circular shape, a wavy shape, a polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape with a closed boundary.

[9] In an embodiment of the present invention, the blank may include facet crease-lines within the major segment to form faceted panels on the collapsible bowl.

[10] In an embodiment of the present invention the blank may further comprises a first fold crease-line, and a second fold crease-line, to allow the user to erect the blank more easily. iN other embodiments first and second fold crease-lines are configured to allow the blank to be folded.

[11] In an embodiment of the present invention, the folded blank, maybe secured by an adhesive, double sided tape or any other known method of connecting two surfaces, applied to portions of the portions of the fold segment and over-fold segment.

[12] In an embodiment of the present invention, the blank is made of at least one of: plastic, cardboard, cardstock, or any other known stiff and flexible sheet material.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

[45] FIG. 1 illustrates a top view of a blank to form a collapsible bowl, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 illustrates a perspective view of the erected collapsible bowl. FIG. 3 shows a top view of the erected collapsible bowl. FIG. 4 shows a cross sectional view of the erected bowl. For the sake of brevity, FIGs. 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been explained together.

[46] In an embodiment of the present invention, the blank may include a blank edge 112, that forms the perimeter of the blank, a first radial crease-line 102, originating at a center point 101 within the blank and terminating at a first point 114, on the blank edge, a second radial crease-line 104 originating at the center point and terminating at a second point 115 on the blank edge; a base crease-line 105 configured to form a base section 106 of the collapsible bowl, wherein the base section 106 is formed by a bounded area of the blank between the center point 101 and the base crease-line 105; A wall section 107 is formed by the area of the blank between the base crease-line 105 and the edge of the blank 112. The first and second radial crease-lines, form a fold segment 108 and a major segment; where the degree of angle between the first and second radial crease-lines determine the size of the fold segment; The major segment includes an over-fold segment 109 and an under-fold segment 111; the over-fold segment overlaps the fold segment, and the under-fold segment underlays the fold segment to erect the collapsible bowl.

[47] A female latch connecting element 110, extends from the under-fold segment 111 and a male latch connecting element 113, extends from the over-fold segment. [48] FIG. 3 shows a top view of the erected blank where the fold segment is twisted counterclockwise and clockwise. The blank is folded along the first radial crease-line 102 and second radial crease-line 104, by rotating the fold segment 108, either clockwise or counter clockwise; around the center point 101, until the fold segment 108, folds between the over fold segment and the under fold segment. The base section folds along the base crease-line 105, creating an upwards pointing conical form within the three-dimensional cavity, further the wall section extends upwards at an angle from the outer edges of the base section, as shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 4.

[49] In an embodiment of the present invention, the one or more connecting elements may, without any limitation, include snaps, hooks, clips, male-female latches, and hook and loop fasteners or any other known connecting method; alternatively the connecting elements maybe fabricated into the blank by including tabs, slots, slits and cuts as shown in FIGs. 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18 and 21.

[50] In an embodiment of the present invention, the base crease-line 105, the first radial crease-line 102 and the second crease-line 104, may be created by scoring, creasing, and any known method to locally dent the blank to form indentations, thereby allowing the blank to be folded along the formed indentations.

[51] In various embodiments of the present invention, the edge of the blank maybe cut in a variety of shapes, such as a circular shape, a wavy shape, a polygonal shape, an amorphous, an asymmetrical shape, a first edge shape, and a second edge shape to form the collapsible bowl having a circular opening, a wavy shaped opening, a polygonal opening, an amorphous opening, an asymmetrical shaped opening, a heart shaped opening, and an oval shaped opening. FIG. 5 shows an alternative embodiment of the present invention in its erected form where the edge of the blank is cut to a wavy line for aesthetic purposes. FIG. 6 shows an alternative embodiment where the edge of the blank is cut to form a heart shaped opening when erected. FIG. 7 shows an alternative embodiment where the edge of the blank is cut into a six-sided polygonal shape. The base section, and wall section, are divided by first and second crease- lines 702 and 704, defining a fold segment. The edge of the blank is cut into a polygonal shape to create a polygonal opening of the collapsible bowl when erected. FIG. 8 shows an alternative embodiment where the edge of the blank is cut to a closed boundary shape, configured to form an ovular shaped opening of the collapsible bowl when erected.

[52] In other embodiments of the present invention, shown in FIGs. 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 20 and 21 the blank may include a rim crease-line, configured to form a boundary of a rim section of the collapsible bowl, wherein the rim section is formed by area of the blank between the rim crease-line and the edge of the blank. The rim section maybe folded downward to form a rim on the collapsible bowl. Further the folded down rim maybe one or a combination of: a circular shape, a wavy shape, a polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape with a closed boundary configured to form a variety of openings including at least one of: a circular shaped opening, a wavy shaped opening, polygonal shaped opening, an asymmetrical opening, and any other shaped opening, on the collapsible bowl. Further the rim section may include at least one or more, connecting elements, cut-outs, slits, flaps, a lid or handles.

[53] To describe the rim structure, the embodiment shown in FIGs. 9 and 10 is explained in more detail: The blank comprises a blank edge 912, that forms the perimeter of the blank, a first radial crease-line 902, originating at a center point 901 within the blank and terminating at a first point 913, on the blank edge, a second radial crease-line 904 originating at the center point and terminating at a second point 915 on the blank edge; a base crease-line 905 configured to form a base section 906 of the collapsible bowl, wherein the base section 906 is formed by a bounded area of the blank between the center point 901 and the base crease-line 905. The first and second radial crease-lines form a fold segment 908 and a major segment. Further a rim crease-line 903 is created close to the edge of the blank defining a rim section 910, created between the rim crease-line 903, and the edge of the blank 912. The rim crease- line 903 and the base crease-line 905, form the boundary of the wall section 907. FIG. 10 shows the erected blank. Positioned at the top of the wall section 907, the rim section 910, extends downwards and wraps around the circumference of the bowl creating a rim structure. The degree of the angle between the first and second radial crease-lines determine the size of the fold segment which determines the slant and depth of the erected bowl.

[54] In alternative embodiments, the blank shown in FIG.9 may include a detachable lid. FIG. 25 illustrates a round shaped lid blank configured to mate with the opening of the erected collapsible bowl and rim shown in FIG. 10. The lid blank comprising: a central panel configured to match the opening of the collapsible bowl and several flap panels extending from the central panel, configured to overlay the width of the rim section of the collapsible bowl. A slit 2509, within each of the flap panels is configured to mate with the edge of the rim 912 of the collapsible bowl shown in FIG. 10.

[55] In other embodiments the rim section may feature additional rim crease-lines to allow the rim section to fold further and form an erogomic grip.

[56] In embodiments of the present invention shown in FIGs 13 and 14, the blank may have facet crease-lines to form faceted walls of the collapsible bowl. The blank shown in FIG. 13 is explained in more detail. The blank includes a blank edge, a first radial crease-line 1302, a second radial crease-line 1304 and a base crease-line 1305, around the center point 1301, that divides the blank into a base section 1306, a wall section 1307 and a fold segment 1308. The base section, and wall section within the major segment of the blank are further segmented by six facet crease lines, 1313, 1314, 1315, 1316, 1317, and 1318, creating seven additional sections 1310, 1319, 1320, 1321, 1322, 1323 and 1309, where all the angles of all the segments add up to a total of 360 degrees. When erected, the fold segment 1308 will form a pleat with the over-fold segment 1310, on top and the under-fold segment 1309, at the bottom of the pleat. A male latch 1311, protrudes from the over-fold segment 1310 and engages with the female latch 1312, on the under-fold segment 1309 to fasten the blank. FIG. 14 shows a blank that comprises several facet crease-lines configured to create ten segments of two different sizes. The blank has a plurality of smaller segments created by small angles 1421,1423,1425, 1427 and a plurality of wider segments created by larger angles 1422, 1424, 1426, 1428. Where 1408 is the fold segment and 1409 is the over-fold segment. The male latch 1411 folds and engages with the female latch 1412, when the blank is erected to form an eight-sided structure.

[57] In an embodiment of the present invention shown in FIG. 11, the bowl includes faceted walls and a rim structure. FIG. 11 illustrates a blank comprising a base section, a wall section, a rim section and a fold segment 1108. Four facet crease-lines, create five additional segments. In its erect form the fold-segment 1108, forms a pleat and lies between the over-fold and underfold segment. The base section forms an upwards pointing pyramid structure within the cavity. The wall section forms an upward wall around the pyramid structure. The facet crease-lines create a faceted four-sided container structure where the rim is folded in a downwards direction. Further In alternative embodiments, the bowl shown in FIG. 11 may include a detachable lid. The square shaped lid blank shown in FIG. 25 comprises: a central panel bound by crease- lines, 2501, 2502, 2503, 2504 configured to fit along crease-lines 1101, 1102, 1103 and 1104 on the erected bowl shown in FIG. 11, and four flap panels extending from the central panel, configured to overlay the width of the rim of the collapsible bowl; slits 2505, 2506, 2507 and 2508 within each flap panels are configured to mate with the edges of the rim 1105, 1106, 1107 and 1108 on the erected bowl shown in FIG. 11.

[58] FIG. 12 illustrates another embodiment of a blank configured to create a bowl with faceted sides and rim. The blank includes a base crease-line 1205, rim crease-line 1203, a first radial crease-line 1202, second radial crease-line 1204 and a fold segment 1208. Three facet crease-lines, create four additional segments. When erected the blank forms a three-sided bowl with a downward pointing rim. FIGs. 15, 16 and 20 illustrate alternative embodiments of bowls with facets and non-continuous rims. FIG. 15 illustrates a top view of an erected hexagonal bowl where the rim section is divided with slits. FIG. 16 shows a blank that includes four facet crease-lines, creating two larger facets 1520, 1521 and two smaller facets 1522 and 1523; a fold segment 1508 and the over fold segment 1510. A rim section extends from each facet in the present embodiment creates part of a circular rim section 1516. Further connecting elements 1524, 1525 and 1526 are located on the rim. When erected the connecting elements 1529, 1525 and 1526 engage to affix the bowl. FIG. 20 shows a blank with four facet crease-lines. The facet crease-lines create two larger facets 1620 and 1621 and two smaller facets 1622 and 1623. Where 1608 is the fold segment and 1610 is the over-fold segment; the two smaller segments feature handle cut outs 1628 and 1627. When the blank is erected rim sections 1616, fold downwards to give the structure more strength while the handles 1628 and 1627 remain in an upwards direction.

[59] In other embodiments of the present invention, the blank may include base crease-lines, in a variety of shapes such as, but not limited to: a circular shape, a wavy shape, a polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape with a closed boundary configured to form a base section with a variety of shapes including but not limited to: a circular shape, a wavy shape, polygonal shape, an asymmetrical shape, and any other shape. Examples are shown in FIG. 8, 11, 12, 16, 21 and 23. FIG. 8 illustrates a blank having a first radial crease-line 802, and second radial crease-line 804, a fold segment 808, a center point 801, a base crease-line 805, Where the blank edge and the base crease-line 805, are asymmetric shapes configured to form an ovular bowl opening and an ovular base when the blank is erected.

[60] In an alternative embodiment of the present invention the blank comprises fold crease- lines to enable easier erection of the blank. Referring to FIG. 17, the present invention has a first fold crease-line 1715 and a second fold crease-line 1716; the first fold crease-line maybe a point or a line close to, tangential with or within with the periphery of the base crease-line 1705, that allows a portion of the wall section 1707 to rotate relative to the base section 1706. When the blank is folded along the first fold crease-line 1715, the base crease-line 1705 is partially engaged and the wall section is biased in an upward direction.; the second fold crease- line 1716, originates at the center point and extends the first radial crease-line 1702, allowing the base section to be molded in an upwards direction, when the first radial crease-line 1702 and the second fold crease-line 1716, are engaged. Therefore Rotating the wall section upwards along first fold crease-line 1715, while rotating the fold segment 1708 and over-fold segment 1707 downwards, about the second fold crease-line 1716, molds the blank into a semi-erect form. Further in some embodiments an additional crease-line 1717, maybe placed within the fold segment 1708 and the overfold segment 1707, to enable easier erection of the blank.

[61] Further in some embodiments the blank may have visual indicators that inform the user how to engage the additional deployment features. As shown in FIG. 17, a finger groove 1718 indicates where the user may engage the first fold crease-line, 1715 and a tab 1713, indicates where to grasp the fold segment and overfold segment to engage the second fold crease-line, 1716.

[62] In an alternative embodiment, the blank maybe pre-folded. As seen in FIGs. 18 and 19, the first fold crease-line 1815 originates at one edge of the blank and terminates at the other, creating the first fold line; the second fold crease-line 1819, extended first radial crease- linel802 originating at first point 1814, on the blank edge, going through the centre point, and terminating at the opposite edge of the blank; the blank is folded along the first fold line 1815 and then the second fold line 1819. FIG. 19 shows the blank in its folded configuration. The folded blank maybe erected by holding the fold segment 1808, and rotating the first fold crease- line 1815 open, while twisting the fold segment 1808 counter clockwise. The male and female latches 1816 and 1818 maybe engaged to affix the erect structure secure.

[63] Further in an embodiment of the present invention, the blank shown in FIGs. 18 and 19, maybe secured when in a fold configuration, by an adhesive, double sided tape or any other known method of connecting two surfaces, applied to portions 1820 and 1821, of the base section

[64] In other exemplary embodiments shown in FIGs. 21, 22 and 23, the blank may include a hinged lid panel to cover the opening of the collapsible bowl. FIG.21 shows a blank with four facet crease-lines. The blank is divided into a base section 1206, a wall section 1207, three smaller panels 2116 and a lid panel 2117. The lid panel 2117 extends from the wall section 2120 and is configured to match the opening of the erect bowl and form a lid. The lid panel 2117 and smaller panels 2116 are terminally coupled to corresponding facets 2120, 2119, 2121, 2107, on the wall section, allowing them to rotate relative to one another. When erected, the slots 2119, within the smaller panels engage with tags 2118 on the lid panel to close the bowl. In other embodiments any of the smaller panels 2116, maybe extended to form a portion of a lid. FIG. 22 shows a perspective view of the erected six structure bowl with a hexagonal lid panel. The lid panel extends from the wall section of the blank and is designed to cover the opening of the bowl structure. The lid panel sits within the wall section of the structure, where tabs 2216 protruding from the lid panel, engage with slots 2217 within the wall section of the bowl, to keep the lid secured. FIG. 23 shows an alternative embodiment where the blank forms a rectangular bowl with a hinged lid panel. The rectangular lid panel is terminally coupled to the wall section of the bowl. The remaining sides of the lid panel include flap panels 2328, 2329 and 2330, configured to mate with the wall of the erected bowl where the flap panels create a compression fit against the walls of the bowl. The flap panels may include latches 2311, configured to fit into slots 2312. In other embodiments the lid panel may include a handle, a variety of latches or connecting elements.

[65] In alternative embodiments, collapsible bowls with a folded down rim sections may include a matching detachable lid. FIG. 25 shows two detachable lids configured to mate with a collapsible bowl with a circular shaped opening and a square shaped opening, however, similar lids maybe configured to mate with any collapsible bowl shapes.

[66] In alternative embodiments a rim-less blank may include a detachable lid where the lid blanks are configured to mate with the wall section of the erected collapsible bowl. FIG. 26, shows three separate detachable lids configured to mate with the wall section of the collapsible bowl, comprising: a central panel configured to match the opening of the collapsible bowl; flap panels extending from the central panel, configured to mate with the wall section of the collapsible bowl; The detachable lids shown in FIG.26 include: a compression fit lid, where the flap panels fold upwards when placed into the bowl, creating a compression a fit against the walls of the bowl, a protruding tab lid, where the flap is designed to slide into corresponding slots in the rim crease-line on the bowl and a horizontal tab lid, where protruding tabs enter corresponding horizontal slots in the wall of the bowl creating a closure. The lid blanks maybe fabricated of similar material to the bowl or they may be made from a different sheet material.

[67] In other embodiments, a detachable lid may have one or more slots on its surface corresponding protruding tabs extending from the edge of the wall section. The lid maybe a blank of larger dimensions than the bowl opening. In other embodiments the protruding tabs extending from the edge of the wall section maybe handles, hooks or labels.

[68] In another embodiment of the present invention one or more blanks maybe adjoined on a portion of their respective wall sections, to form a multiple bowl assembly, shown in FIG. 24. The blank is a combination of two blanks attached at one edge of each blank 2003. The fold segments, 2008 are twisted to erect the blanks forming two adjoined bowl -like structures. The bowls maybe used side by side, alternatively one bowl can be used as a cavity with the other becomes the lid. Further, in other embodiments, a double bowl blank may feature circular rims as seen in FIG. 24, where one bowl structure is used as the cavity and the other bowl structure acts as a lid. [69] In an alternative embodiment, the blank features multiple fold segment sizes as shown in FIG. 27. The blank includes a first radial crease-line 2702, terminating at a center point 2701 of the blank, and a second radial crease-line, 2704 originating at the center point of the blank and defining a fold segment 2708. A base crease-line 2705 is distributed around the center point 2701. The second fold crease-line 2704 maybe substituted for any of the additional radial crease-lines, 2704, 2706, 2707 or 2708 thereby forming larger or smaller fold segment sizes depending on the desired bowl size and slant. In other embodiments FIG. 28, shows a blank with multiple base segment sizes. The blank includes a first radial crease-line, terminating at a center point 2801 of the blank, and a second radial crease-line, originating at the center point of the blank and defining a fold segment 2808. A base crease-line 2805 is distributed around the center point 2801. The base crease-line 2805 maybe substituted for any of the additional base crease-lines, 2806 or 2807 thereby forming larger or smaller base section sizes depending on the desired bowl size .

[70] Other features maybe added to the invention to create functionality. The fold created by the fold segment and the under fold maybe fashioned as a spout used to direct fluids out of the main bowl structure. In other embodiments the bowl wall and base may feature holes to drain water and act as a collapsible colander. In other embodiments the internal cone within the bowl maybe used as a lemon juicer. In other embodiments there may be a cut out at the edge of the blank to serve as a spoon or thumb rest. With all the components working in tandem with each other it can be seen that, the present invention is a blank that can be easily transformed between a flat configuration and erected configuration where the three- dimensional cavity can retain its shape, with an affixing method as a precaution.

[71] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

[72] It has thus been seen that the blank configured to form a collapsible bowl according to the present invention achieves the purposes highlighted earlier. The blank configured to form the collapsible bowl can in any case undergo numerous modifications and variants, all of which are covered by the same innovative concept; moreover, all of the details can be replaced by technically equivalent elements. In practice, the materials used, as well as the shapes and sizes, can be whatever according to the technical requirements. The scope of protection of the invention is therefore defined by the attached claims.
