Abstract:
A collision determination ECU (1) has a possibility determination section (16) for determining whether a vehicle (VC1) on which the ECU (1) is mounted has a possibility of collision with a forward vehicle (VC2), an advance direction determination section (14) for determining whether at least either the vehicle (VC1) or the forward vehicle (VC2) is changing its advance direction, and a condition change section (15) which, when the advance direction determination section (14) determines that the advance direction is being changed, changes collision determination conditions to be stricter, where the collision determination conditions are conditions according to which a possibility estimation section (16) determines that there is a possibility of collision. Unnecessary activation of an occupant protection device is suppressed.
