Abstract:
The invention relates to a combined liquid-tight meat tray (1) and an inserted absorbent/separating layer (5). The objective of the invention is to provide increased preservability for a packed piece of meat and effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria without altering storage conditions and without exposing the meat to potentially harmful substances. An absorbent/separating layer(5) is thus provided, comprising an absorbent support (6), a film (7) placed thereon in order to reduce the penetrability of meat juices and an area containing a plant-based preservative (12) that is made up of microbially active volatile constituents (15).
