Abstract:
A combustion chamber structure for an internal combustion engine is provided with a recessed part (12) which is formed eccentrically with respect to a cylinder center axis (C1) at a piston top, and a tapered part (20) which connects the upper end surface (22) of the piston top and the side surface (18) of the recessed part (12). The tapered part (20) is formed such that a tapered part volume (the volume of a space formed between the tapered part (20) and a combustion chamber upper wall surface) in a first section of the piston top is larger than a tapered part volume in a second section closer to the eccentric direction of the recessed portion (12) from the cylinder center axis (C1) than the first section.
