Abstract:
The present application relates to a communication method and apparatus. The communication method comprises: a terminal device receiving M pieces of first information from a network device; and the terminal device performing cell reselection or measurement according to the M pieces of first information or N pieces of second information, wherein all or some of the M pieces of first information are used for cell reselection or measurement when the terminal device satisfies a first condition, all or some of the N pieces of second information are used for cell reselection or measurement when the terminal device does not satisfy the first condition, there is an intersection between information of the N pieces of second information and that of the M pieces of first information, the first information is cell information or frequency information, and the second information is cell information or frequency information. Information of a corresponding cell or frequency is provided in a targeted manner for a terminal device satisfying a first condition, facilitating the reduction of the number of cells or frequencies needing to be measured by the terminal device satisfying the first condition, and thus reducing the power consumption of the terminal device.
