Abstract:
The present application provides a communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a first access network element determines that a terminal device is in a suspended state and is incapable of serving the terminal device when the terminal device returns to a connected state; and the first access network element sends a context of the terminal device to a second access network element, the context being used for the terminal device to return to the connected state. In the method, when determining that the terminal device is in a suspended state and subsequently incapable of serving the terminal device, the first access network element can actively send the context of the terminal device to the second access network element, thereby ensuring that a target access network element can obtain the context of the terminal device, quickly recovering connection for the terminal device, and achieving energy saving.
