Abstract:
A communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a terminal device receiving first instruction information from a first cell, and performing cell selection or reselection according to the first instruction information; and the terminal device residing in the first cell, wherein the first instruction information is used for instructing the terminal device to perform cell selection or reselection, such that a first terminal device accesses other cells to reduce the number of terminal devices served by the first cell, thereby saving on the energy consumption of a communication system; and since the terminal device is instructed to perform cell selection or reselection, the terminal device can perform normal communication.
