Abstract:

An OFDMA communication system and base stations, terminals and a base station switching method that are used in that communication system wherein there is no need of dismissing a wireless connection with a base station of handover source so as to search for a base station and hence the time required for handover can be shortened. In an OFDMA communication system including a plurality of base stations (10) and a plurality of terminals having data communication therebetween, each of the base stations (10) has a subchannel assignment setting means (15-1) that includes information indicative of subchannels available or unavailable to the terminals and that sets assignments of subchannels, which include both a first subchannel assigned to each terminal and a second subchannel including data to be actually used, to the respective terminals. When receiving a switching request of the first subchannel from one (20) of the terminals, the subchannel assignment setting means (15-1) puts the second subchannel into the same slot as the first subchannel assigned to the terminal (20), thereby assigning the second subchannel thereto.
