Abstract:
A compact ultrasonic linear motor according to the present invention comprises: an oscillator constituted by a metal operating part formed from a metal material bonded to a piezoelectric actuator formed from a piezoelectric material in a flat shape that is symmetric with respect to an actuation direction; and a moving member against which the oscillator presses. The moving member is moved in one of two directions parallel to the four sides of the piezoelectric actuator by using first elastic vibration, in which the piezoelectric oscillator is made to elastically vibrate in the one direction, and second elastic vibration, in which both ends of the piezoelectric oscillator in the one direction are made to elastically vibrate in the other of the two directions. The metal operating part is formed in the shape of a four-legged table having a top substantially identical in shape to the piezoelectric actuator. Said top is bonded to the piezoelectric actuator.
