Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a robot and a control method thereof. The robot of the present disclosure comprises: a camera; a memory that stores management information about a companion object including a plurality of images obtained by photographing the companion object at different points in time, and control information, which corresponds to abnormalities of the companion object, for at least one peripheral device; a communication interface; and at least one processor. The processor controls the camera such that the robot, while traveling, photographs the companion object, identifies if there is an abnormality in the companion object by comparing images of the companion object obtained by means of the camera with the plurality of images stored in the memory, if there is an abnormality in the companion object, identifies control information corresponding to the identified abnormal symptom on the basis of the information stored in the memory, and transmits to at least one peripheral device, by means of the communication interface, a control signal for controlling the operation of the at least one peripheral device on the basis of the identified control information.
