The present invention addresses the problem of providing a composite fiber of a cellulose fiber and inorganic particles exhibiting excellent filterability and yield when used as a material in forming a sheet. A composite according to the present invention is such that (1) when the aqueous suspension of a composite fiber of 0.1% solid content concentration is filter-treated by a 60-mesh (250 μｍ-aperture) filter, the weight ratio B/A of the inorganic substance (B) of a residue remaining on the filter after filtration and the inorganic substance (A) of the composite fiber before treatment is 0.3 or greater, or (2) when the aqueous suspension of a composite fiber of 0.3% solid content concentration is classification-treated using a fiber classification analyzer under 5.7 L/min flow velocity, 25 ±１℃ water temperature and 22L total runoff conditions, the weight ratio C/A of an inorganic substance (C) in a fraction equivalent to 16.00-18.50 runoff amount (L) and 10.6-37.3 runoff time (sec) and the inorganic substance (A) of the composite fiber before treatment is 0.3 or greater.
