Abstract:
The present invention provides a composite material which has excellent electrical conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance, and which additionally has excellent adhesion between a base material and a carbon layer. A composite material which comprises a conductive carbon layer on at least one surface of a plate-like base material, and which is configured such that: the plate-like base material comprises a chromium-plated steel material that is obtained by providing the surface of a steel material with a chromium plating layer, and a chromium oxide layer that is formed on the surface of the chromium-plated steel material so as to have a thickness of less than 20 nm; and the carbon layer contains a carbonaceous material and a matrix resin that is composed of a thermoplastic resin or a thermosetting resin, while having a thickness of from 0.1 mm to 3.0 mm. A method for producing this composite material.
