A composite member provided with a base material constituted from pure aluminum or an aluminum alloy, an intermediate layer provided on the surface of the base material, and a coating layer provided on the surface of the intermediate layer, the intermediate layer including aluminum oxide and having a plurality of projections protruding from the base material side thereof, the height H of the projections being 10 nm to 100 nm, and the coating layer including nickel.
