Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a cerium oxide (CeO2)-zirconium oxide (ZrO2)-aluminum oxide (Al2O3) composite oxide which has improved heat resistance; and a method for producing this composite oxide. The present invention provides a composite oxide which contains cerium element, zirconium element and aluminum element, and optionally a rare earth metal element other than cerium element, and which has a specific surface area of 60 m2/g or more as determined by a BET method after a heat treatment at 1,000°C in the atmosphere for 25 hours. The present invention also provides a method for producing this composite oxide.
