Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a composite separation membrane having a separation layer comprising a sulfonated polyarylene ether multiblock copolymer situated on the surface of a porous support membrane, wherein a condition of strong bonding between the porous support membrane and the separation layer coating is sustained for a longer period, and the separation characteristics and water permeability are superior to those of a separation layer comprising a conventional sulfonated polyarylene ether random copolymer. [Solution] Provided is a composite separation membrane having a separation layer on the surface of a porous support membrane, wherein the porous support membrane includes 50 mass% or more of a polyphenylene ether, and the separation layer comprises a thin film of a sulfonated polyarylene ether including a multiblock copolymer obtained through linking of a hydrophobic oligomer and a hydrophilic oligomer by a specific chain extender.
