Abstract:
A composition for an electrochemical element functional layer, the composition including a particulate polymer, a binding material, and heat-resistant fine particles. The particulate polymer is characterized by having a core-shell structure that comprises core parts that comprise a polymer A and shell parts that comprise a polymer B, the degree SA to which polymer A swells in an electrolyte being 1–8 times, the degree SB to which polymer B swells in an electrolyte being at least 4 times, and SB/SA being equal to or greater than 1.2. The particulate polymer is also characterized by having a volume average particle diameter of 1.0–10.0 μm.
