Title:
A COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR DECREASING POLLUTION RESULTING FROM THE APPLICATION OF A COATING COMPOSITION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1982000151
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Described is a method for decreasing the air pollution resulting from the application of paint by applying an organic solvent based thinner to a substrate thereby forming a gaseous organic effluent (10) comprised of a mixture of air and gaseous organic solvent and gaseous thinner and passing the gaseous effluent (10) into a gas absorbing means comprised of a non-reactive liquid solvent (12). Also described is a novel completely water miscible organic based solvent thinner. When an acrylic based coating composition is employed, a preferred thinner for the acrylic paint is methanol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone, monoethyl ether of ethylene glycol monoacetate, and mixture of esters of dibasic acids.
