Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a composition that can form a liquid crystal layer which has a maximum absorption wavelength in the infrared region (particularly, wavelengths 1000-1700 nm) and which excels in absorption anisotropy; an optically anisotropic layer; a liquid crystal cell; a liquid crystal display device; a sensor; a lens; a switching element; an isolator; and a camera The composition according to the present invention contains: at least one specified compound selected from the group consisting of a colorant compound having a cation structure represented by formula (I), and a reductant thereof; and a liquid crystal compound.
