Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating climacteric symptoms, comprising Lactobacillus fermentum. Particularly, the present invention relates to a food composition for preventing or alleviating climacteric or menopausal symptoms and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating climacteric or menopausal symptoms, the compositions containing, as an active ingredient, a Lactobacillus fermentum strain, a culture product thereof or a fermentation product thereof. A Lactobacillus fermentum of the present invention or a fermentation product thereof can improve and promote intestinal health through intestinal microflora changes, barrier strengthening, and intestinal inflammation inhibition during menopause or menopause accompanied by inflammation, and, furthermore, can increase bone density that was reduced during menopause or menopause accompanied by inflammation, and thus is usable in the preparation of a health functional food and a medical product enabling effective prevention, alleviation or treatment of menopausal or climacteric symptoms through regulation of intestine-bone metabolism and regulation of the immune system.
