Title:
COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING OR TREATING DEGENERATIVE VALVULAR DISEASE COMPRISING PAD INHIBITOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/035035
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating a degenerative valvular disease such as aortic stenosis, and has been completed by confirming that, when protein-arginine deiminase (PAD) proteins are inhibited in valve cells derived from an aortic stenosis patient, calcification or osteogenic differentiation, fibrosis, inflammation, etc., are effectively inhibited. That is, according to the present invention, calcification or osteogenic differentiation, fibrosis, and inflammation of valve tissue, which are the major pathological mechanisms for degenerative valvular disease, are simultaneously inhibited, thus enabling the fundamental treatment or prevention of progress of degenerative valvular disease. Therefore, the present invention is expected to be available as a therapeutic agent for various diseases caused by degenerative deformation of valves.
