The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, comprising fruit extracts of Elaeagnus multiflora Thunb.. The fruit extracts of Elaeagnus multiflora Thunb. according to the present invention inhibited the production of 5-alpha reductase-2, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and 5-alpha-reductase-2 in vitro, and also suppressed the enlargement of prostate tissues and the contents of 5-alpha reductase and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in a testosterone-induced prostatic hyperplasia rat model, thereby enhancing the excellent effect of preventing or suppressing prostatic hyperplasia even in animal models, and thus have industrial applicability.
