Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of improving the physical properties such as heat resistance (glass transition temperature) of a resin such as a polyester that is obtained from 2, 2'-bis(carboxymethoxy)-1, 1'-binaphthyl. The present invention provides, as a means for solving the problem, a composition for a resin starting material, said composition being characterized by containing, as component A, a compound represented by formula (1) and, as component B, a compound represented by formula (2), while having the composition ratios of the compounds within the ranges descried below. Composition ratios: Relative to the total amount of all components as detected at the wavelength of 280 nm by high-speed liquid chromatography using a UV detector, the component A is from 98.0% by area to 99.99% by area and the component B is 1.50% by area or less.
