Claims:
CLAIMS

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

1. A flossing system comprising:

(a) a reusable flosser comprising:

(i) a primary flosser comprising:

(1) a primary fastener;

(2) a first primary distal portion; and

(3) a second primary distal portion; and

(ii) a secondary flosser comprising:

(1) a secondary fastener configured to removably couple to the primary fastener;

(2) a first secondary distal portion; and

(3) a second secondary distal portion, wherein the first primary distal portion and the first secondary distal portion are rotatably coupled about a first axis, wherein the second primary distal portion and second first secondary distal portion are rotatably coupled about the first axis, and wherein at least a clamping portion of the primary flosser and the secondary flosser extends distally from the first axis; and

(b) a floss container comprising:

(i) a first container portion comprising:

(1) a first indentation; and

(2) a second indentation, wherein the first indentation and the second indentation are configured to accept at least a part of the clamping portion of the primary flosser, the clamping portion of the secondary flosser, or both; and

(ii) a second container portion rotatably attached to the first container portion, wherein the second portion comprises an extrusion configured to cover at least a portion of the first indentation and the second indentation when the floss container is in a closed state.

- 25 - The system of claim 1, wherein the primary fastener, the secondary fastener, or both comprise a latch, a snap, a clasp, a magnet, a hook and loop fastener, a bolt, a nut, a tie, a band, or any combination thereof. The system of claim 1, wherein the first primary distal portion comprises a first primary hinge protrusion that rotatably couples to a first secondary hinge cavity in the first secondary distal portion. The system of claim 1, wherein the first primary distal portion comprises a first primary hinge cavity that rotatably couples to a first secondary hinge protrusion in the first secondary distal portion. The system of claim 1, wherein the second primary distal portion comprises a second primary hinge protrusion that rotatably couples to a second secondary hinge cavity in the second secondary distal portion. The system of claim 1, wherein the second primary distal portion comprises a second primary hinge cavity that rotatably couples to a second secondary hinge protrusion in the second secondary distal portion. The system of claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the first primary distal portion is mesial to at least a portion of the first secondary distal portion at the intersection of the first axis and the first primary distal portion, the first secondary distal portion, or both. The system of claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the second primary distal portion is mesial to at least a portion of the second secondary distal portion at the intersection of the first axis and the second primary distal portion, the second secondary distal portion, or both. The system of claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the first secondary distal portion is mesial to at least a portion of the first primary distal portion at the intersection of the first axis and the first secondary distal portion, the first primary distal portion, or both. The system of claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the second secondary distal portion is mesial to at least a portion of the second primary distal portion at the intersection of the first axis and the second secondary distal portion, the second primary distal portion, or both. The system of claim 1, wherein the first primary distal portion and the first secondary distal portion are coupled about the first axis to rotate by at most about 30° to at most about 90°. The system of claim 1, wherein the second primary distal portion and the second secondary distal portion are coupled about the first axis to rotate by at most about 30° to at most about 90°. The system of claim 1, wherein the clamping portion of the primary flosser comprises a distal portion of the first primary portion and a distal portion of the second primary portion. The system of claim 1, wherein the clamping portion of the secondary flosser comprises a distal portion of the first secondary portion and a distal portion of the second secondary portion. The system of claim 1, wherein a first primary interior surface of the first primary distal portion contacts at least a portion of a second primary interior surface of the second primary distal portion when the first fastener and the second fastener are coupled. The system of claim 15, wherein the first primary interior surface comprises two or more first primary teeth, wherein the second primary interior surface comprises two or more second primary teeth, and wherein the two or more first primary teeth and the two or more second primary teeth interdigitate when the first fastener and the second fastener are coupled. The system of claim 1, wherein a first secondary interior surface the first secondary distal portion contacts at least a portion of a second secondary interior surface the second secondary distal portion when the first fastener and the second fastener are coupled. The system of claim 17, wherein the first secondary interior surface comprises two or more first secondary teeth, wherein the second secondary interior surface comprises two or more second secondary teeth, and wherein the two or more first secondary teeth and the two or more second secondary teeth interdigitate when the first fastener and the second fastener are coupled. The system of claim 1, wherein the primary flosser further comprises a first primary proximal portion extending proximally from a proximal end of the first primary distal portion, The system of claim 1, wherein the primary flosser further comprises a second primary proximal portion extending proximally from a proximal end of the second primary distal portion, or both. The system of claim 19, wherein the primary fastener is disposed on at least one of the first primary distal portion, the second primary distal portion, and the primary proximal portion. The system of claim 19, wherein the first primary distal portion and the second primary distal portion intersect with each other, with the primary proximal portion, or both. The system of claim 22, wherein a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the second primary distal portion or the intersection of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the primary proximal portion is equal to a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the first primary distal portion or the intersection of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the primary proximal portion. The system of claim 22, wherein a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the second primary distal portion or the intersection of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the primary proximal portion is less than a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the first primary distal portion or the intersection of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the primary proximal portion. The system of claim 22, wherein a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the second primary distal portion or the intersection of the first primary distal portion and at least a part of the primary proximal portion is greater than a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the first primary distal portion or the intersection of the second primary distal portion and at least a part of the primary proximal portion. The system of claim 1 or 19, wherein the secondary flosser further comprises a secondary proximal portion extending proximally from a proximal end of the first secondary distal portion, the second secondary distal portion, or both. The system of claim 26, wherein the secondary fastener is disposed on at least one of the first secondary distal portion, the second secondary distal portion, and the secondary proximal portion.

- 28 - The system of claim 26, wherein the first secondary distal portion and the second secondary distal portion intersect with each other, with the secondary proximal portion, or both. The system of claim 28, wherein a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the second secondary distal portion or the intersection of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the secondary proximal portion is equal to a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the first secondary distal portion or the intersection of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the secondary proximal portion. The system of claim 28, wherein a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the second secondary distal portion or the intersection of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the secondary proximal portion is less than a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the first secondary distal portion or the intersection of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the secondary proximal portion. The system of claim 28, wherein a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the second secondary distal portion or the intersection of the first secondary distal portion and at least a part of the secondary proximal portion is greater than a distance between at least a part of a distal end of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the intersection of the secondary distal portion and at least a part of the first secondary distal portion or the intersection of the second secondary distal portion and at least a part of the secondary proximal portion. The system of any one of claims 1-31, wherein the second container portion rotatably attaches to the first container portion by a hinge, a flexure, a band, a hook and loop fastener, or any combination thereof. The system of any one of claims 1-32, wherein the first container portion further comprises a floss cutting feature.

- 29 - The system of any one of claims 1-33, wherein the first container portion further comprises a first container fastener configured to removably fasten to a second container fastener on the second container portion when the floss container is in the closed state. The system of any one of claims 1-34, wherein the primary flosser, the secondary flosser, the first container portion, the second container portion, or any combination thereof are composed of plastic, wood, metal, glass, or any combination thereof. The system of claim 35, wherein at least one of the first container fastener and the second container fastener comprise a snap, a protrusion, a bolt, a nut, a tie, a hook and loop fastener, or any combination thereof. The system of any one of claims 1-36, wherein the first container portion further comprises a floss mandrel that receives a floss roll. The system of claim 37, further comprising the floss roll comprising floss. A flossing kit comprising:

(a) the flossing system of any one of claims 1-38;

(b) an instruction sheet; and

(c) a container housing the flossing system and the instruction sheet. The kit of claim 39, further comprising one or more additional flossing rolls. The kit of claim 37 or 38, wherein the container is biodegradable. A method of flossing comprising:

(a) providing the flossing system of claim 38;

(b) detaching the primary fastener from the secondary fastener;

(c) rotating the primary flosser or the secondary flosser about the first axis to translate the primary fastener away from the secondary fastener;

(d) inserting at least part of the clamping portion of the primary flosser and at least a part of the clamping portion of the secondary flosser into the first indentation and the second indentation of the floss container; and

(e) coupling the primary fastener to the secondary fastener. The method of claim 42, wherein step (d) comprises inserting the clamping portion of the first primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the first secondary distal portion

- 30 - into the first indentation and inserting the clamping portion of the second primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the second secondary distal portion into the second indentation. The method of claim 42, wherein step (d) comprises inserting the clamping portion of the first primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the first secondary distal portion into the second indentation and inserting the clamping portion of the second primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the second secondary distal portion into the first indentation. The method of any one of claims 42-44, wherein coupling the primary fastener to the secondary fastener clamps a first portion of the floss between the first primary distal portion and the first secondary distal portion, and a second portion of the floss between the second primary distal portion and the second secondary distal portion. The method of claim 45, further comprising cutting a piece of the floss at a position of the floss outside the span between the first portion of the floss and the second portion of the floss. The method of claim 46, further comprising inserting the piece of the floss between two adjacent teeth of a patient while the primary fastener and the secondary fastener are coupled.

[0001] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Application No. 63/105,819, filed October 26, 2020, entitled “COMPOSITIONS OF A FLOSSING DEVICE AND METHODS OF USE,” the contents of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety for all purposes.

BACKGROUND

[0002] Proper and regular flossing removes plaque and food particles from under the gum line and in places between teeth where a toothbrush cannot easily reach. As buildup of such plaque and food particles over time lead to tooth decay and gum disease flossing serves to improve dental hygiene and health

SUMMARY

[0003] Provided herein is a flossing system comprising: a reusable flosser comprising: a primary flosser comprising: a primary fastener; a first primary distal portion; and a second primary distal portion; and a secondary flosser comprising: a secondary fastener configured to removably couple to the primary fastener; a first secondary distal portion; and a second secondary distal portion, wherein the first primary distal portion and the first secondary distal portion are rotatably coupled about a first axis, wherein the second primary distal portion and second first secondary distal portion are rotatably coupled about the first axis, and wherein at least a clamping portion of the primary flosser and the secondary flosser extends distally from the first axis; and a floss container comprising: a first container portion comprising: a first indentation; and a second indentation, wherein the first indentation and the second indentation are configured to accept at least a part of the clamping portion of the primary flosser, the clamping portion of the secondary flosser, or both; and a second container portion rotatably attached to the first container portion, wherein the second portion comprises an extrusion configured to cover at least a portion of the first indentation and the second indentation when the floss container is in a closed state.

In some embodiments, the first container portion further comprises a floss cutting feature In some embodiments, the first container portion further comprises a first container fastener configured to removably fasten to a second container fastener on the second container portion when the floss container is in the closed state. In some embodiments, the primary flosser, the secondary flosser, the first container portion, the second container portion, or any combination thereof are composed of plastic, wood, metal, glass, or any combination thereof. In some embodiments, at least one of the first container fastener and the second container fastener comprise a snap, a protrusion, a bolt, a nut, a tie, a hook and loop fastener, or any combination thereof. In some embodiments, the first container portion further comprises a floss mandrel that receives a floss roll. In some embodiments, they system further comprises the floss roll comprising floss.

[0009] Another aspect provided herein is a flossing kit comprising: the flossing system; an instruction sheet; and a container housing the flossing system and the instruction sheet. In some embodiments, the kit further comprises one or more additional flossing rolls. In some embodiments, the container is biodegradable.

[0010] Another aspect provided herein is a method of flossing comprising: (a) providing the flossing system; (b) detaching the primary fastener from the secondary fastener; (c) rotating the primary flosser or the secondary flosser about the first axis to translate the primary fastener away from the secondary fastener; (d) inserting at least part of the clamping portion of the primary flosser and at least a part of the clamping portion of the secondary flosser into the first indentation and the second indentation of the floss container; and (e) coupling the primary fastener to the secondary fastener. [0011] In some embodiments, (d) comprises inserting the clamping portion of the first primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the first secondary distal portion into the first indentation and inserting the clamping portion of the second primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the second secondary distal portion into the second indentation. In some embodiments, step (d) comprises inserting the clamping portion of the first primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the first secondary distal portion into the second indentation and inserting the clamping portion of the second primary distal portion and the clamping portion of the second secondary distal portion into the first indentation. In some embodiments, coupling the primary fastener to the secondary fastener clamps a first portion of the floss between the first primary distal portion and the first secondary distal portion, and a second portion of the floss between the second primary distal portion and the second secondary distal portion. In some embodiments, the method further comprises cutting a piece of the floss at a position of the floss outside the span between the first portion of the floss and the second portion of the floss. In some embodiments, the method further comprises inserting the piece of the floss between two adjacent teeth of a patient while the primary fastener and the secondary fastener are coupled.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
