Abstract:
This novel compound, represented by expression (1), has an extremely high absorption in the wavelength range 350-510 nm and functions as a dichroic dye. (In the expression, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-20 carbon atoms, etc.; R2-R4 are substituents other than a hydrogen atom, and each independently represents an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, etc.; n, m and p each independently represents an integer 0-2; and Ar1 represents a 5- to 8-membered ring which is a nitrogen-containing saturated heterocyclic group in which an N is bonded to a phenylene, wherein at least one β position of the nitrogen-containing saturated heterocyclic group is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom.)
