Abstract:
A purpose of the present invention is to provide a compound which is suitable for use as a material for the capping layer of an organic EL element, has a high refractive index in the wavelength range of 450-750 nm, and has a low extinction coefficient. Another is to provide an organic EL element having an improved light-extraction efficiency due to use of said compound. This compound is represented by general formula (1) or (2). In the formulae, A represents an (un)substituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, etc.; B and C may be the same as or different from each other and each represent an unsubstituted naphthyl group, an unsubstituted quinolyl group, etc.; and the L moieties may be the same as or different from each other and each represent a single bond, an (un)substituted divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group, etc.
