Title:
COMPOUND WITH AMYLOID AFFINITY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/042461
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A novel technology capable of detection of amyloids, such as Aβ-protein occurring in Alzheimer disease, without the need for any special facilities. There is disclosed a styrylbenzene compound of the general formula (I). each of R1 and R2 independently is hydroxyl or carboxyl, and R3 is a fluorine or bromine atom. Necessarily when R3 is a bromine atom and optionally when R3 is a fluorine atom, at least one carbon atom among the carbon atoms constituting the carboxyls represented by R1 and R2 and the carbon atoms on &agr -, β-, &gammad - and &dgr -positions is 13C. The compound of the formula (I) is not only capable of conducting fluorescent staining of amyloids but also functions as an amyloid-specific MRI contrast agent.
