Abstract:
Provided is a computer system provided with a database server in which a database management system is executed and a storage device in which data is stored, wherein: the storage device is provided with a power-conserving function for switching between a sleep state in which the power consumption of the storage device is reduced and an active state in which it is possible to read and write data; and the database management system accepts, due to execution by an arithmetic device, a query for reading or writing data, analyzes the accepted query and creates a draft execution plan, specifies a volume from or to which data is read or written, and selects, on the basis of information pertaining to the power consumption of the volume, an execution plan in which the power consumption satisfies a prescribed threshold value.
