Abstract:
Data written in variable length format by a first computer is written in fixed length format into a physical volume by a controller according to a specified logic. A second computer reads out the data in fixed length format from the physical volume and extracts variable length data according to the same specified logic. The data written by the first computer can thereby be used by the second computer. Data read out by the second computer can be used similarly by the first computer.
