Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for concatenated polar and Reed-Solomon (RS) codes are described. A first device may encode a set of bits using a linear block code (e.g., an RS code) to generate a set of symbols; may map the set of symbols to a set of information bit channels for a polar code; may encode the mapped set of symbols using the polar code to obtain a codeword; and may transmit the codeword to a second device. In some cases, the first device may map the set of symbols based on a reliability order for the set of information bit channels. The second device may receive a candidate codeword. The second device may decode the candidate codeword using a polar code to generate a set of bits. The second device may map the set of bits to a set of symbols and may decode the set of symbols according to a linear block code.
