Abstract:
A conjugated diene rubber which comprises 40 to 99.9 wt% of units of a conjugated diene monomer, 0 to 59.9 wt% of units of an aromatic vinyl monomer, and 0.1 to 20 wt% of units of a polar monomer and having a Mooney viscosity (M1) of 20 to 150 and which is produced by initiating the polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising at least part of the conjugated diene monomer to be polymerized and at least part of the aromatic vinyl monomer to be polymerized and containing the polar monomer to be polymerized in an amount of 0 to less than 30 wt%, then adding the rests of the conjugated diene monomer and the aromatic vinyl monomer to the system, and continuing the polymerization while adding the rest of the polar monomer and a molecular weight modifier to the reaction system at a stage wherein the Mooney viscosity of the polymer in the system falls within the range of 70 to 200 and is higher than M1 by at least five. This rubber is excellent in processability and can give crosslinked rubber articles excellent in tensile properties and the prevention of heat build-up.
