Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] Connected cars satisfying both linear travelability at high speed and sharp-curve travelability at low speed. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] When a train travels along a sharp curve at low speed, the motors in two electromagnetic dampers are connected in series to a common conversion circuit for conversion into thermal energy. While the train is traveling along the rails in this connected state, yawing occurs between cars (A, B). Since the electromagnetic dampers (21, 22) are compressed (expanded) by the same amount at this time, the motors rotate in the same direction, and no current flows. Therefore no damping force is generated. As a result any resistance against the yawing is present, and the yawing freely takes place. If the train meanders, one of the electromagnetic dampers (21, 22) is compressed, and the other is expanded. Therefore, the motors rotate in the opposite directions. If the motors thus rotate in the opposite directions, current flows in the circuit, the energy converted into thermal energy, and a damping force is exerted. As a result, the meandering is suppressed.
