Abstract:
Provided are a contact device, which can easily extinguish an arc generated between stationary contacts and a movable contact during opening, and an electromagnetic switch using the same. The contact device is provided with a pair of stationary contacts (111, 112) fixedly disposed with a prescribed gap within an arc extinguishing chamber (102) and a movable contact (130) disposed so as to be able to contact and separate from the pair of stationary contacts within the arc extinguishing chamber. A conductive arc current reversing plate part (133), which reverses, from the movable contact, the current of the foot of an arc generated during opening that creates separation from the pair of stationary contacts, is formed in a position where the movable contact faces the pair of stationary contacts.
