Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for continuously producing an anhydrous sugar alcohol in high yield and to a high degree of purity by means of a simple process and device in which a sugar alcohol and an acid catalyst are reacted in a reactor while at the same time evaporating the product therefrom, and the product that has been evaporated to the upper part of the reactor is cooled so as to remove water and obtain a crude anhydrous sugar alcohol while at the same recycling, to the reactor, the residue obtained in the lower part of the reactor.
